Two Festive Cocktails for the Holidays
December 4, 2024
Patrick Grieve, maître d’hôtel and sommelier at the Burger Pub (and Bistro 4 Saisons), has created a couple of festive, warming drinks that he offers in the restaurant when winter rolls around. He’s happy to share the recipes for these delicious cocktails—designed especially for the holiday season.
You can make these at home, or better still, order one at the Burger Pub!
Holiday Cocktail
For one person
– 1/2 oz St-Germain liqueur de sureau (elderflower)
– 1 tbsp simple syrup
– 4 oz sparkling wine
– A couple of frozen cranberries
– A twig of rosemary
Fill a highball glass 3/4 full with ice. Pour in the liqueur, simple syrup and sparkling wine. Garnish with the cranberries and rosemary.
Sip and celebrate!
Hot Holiday Cider (with or without alcohol)
Served as a punch
– 6 cups of apple juice, preferably unpasteurized*
– 1/4 cup maple syrup
– 2 sticks of cinnamon
– 6 cloves
– 6 allspice berries (whole, not ground)
– 12 slices of orange peel (zested)
– 6 slices of lemon peel (zested)
Heat all the ingredients in a saucepan (but don’t boil) until the liquid takes on the flavour of the spices. Stir regularly. For an alcoholic version of the punch, add dark rum. Serve hot, in a mug or toddy glass.
Warm up with a glass or two as you relax with your family!
*Raw brown juice sourced from an orchard, for example..
We look forward to seeing you soon at the Burger Pub (or at the Bistro 4 Saisons!)
